Product Marketing Manager
Basic Purpose: The Product Marketing Manager is responsible for maintaining and directing ownership of one or more Mission Research products throughout the product cycle.
Role Qualifications:
- Must be able to coordinate between technical teams and business stakeholders
- Must have thorough command of the systems and processes that will be used to achieve project objectives
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Defining product vision
- Gathering product requirements
- Creating design concept and functional specifications
- Managing change and scope control
- Facilitating the creation and delivery all of the product’s requisite trainings
- Developing and implementing a company-wide go-to-market plan by working with product marketing
- Creating product definitions and position messaging for sales and marketing
- Coordinating the creation of sales tools
- Developing, implementing and deploying marketing campaigns to deliver the appropriate value proposition and attract new prospects by working closely with the product development team
- Implementing market research programs to gain insight into competing products, industries and trends in web and on-demand application development market to help drive product direction
- Working with internal teams, customers, and industry analysts to build awareness of and demand for product’s capabilities and their business value
- Participating in customer-facing events, user conferences, and trade shows as a product and industry expert
- Analyzing potential partner relationships for the product and make strategic recommendations
- Defining best practices for use of product for clients on new and enhancing capabilities and processes
- Designing, developing, and delivering public webinars, customer training, and internal training on new product offerings
- Project management
- Conducting usability testing and beta programs
- Other duties as assigned
Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years product design, management or equivalent marketing experience in the technology industry.
- Demonstrate a solid knowledge of product, marketing and business strategic thinking, including:
- Analyzing and determining customer requirements
- Producing Product Vision documents
- Producing Product Concept documents
- Producing Functional specifications
- Possess strong quantitative analytical, and technical abilities
- BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience.
- Must have a thorough understanding of the software development process, including:
- Vision/Concept documents
- Functional specifications
- System/architectural design
- Software development
- Configuration
- Testing, and
- Deployment
- Must be able to identify and mitigate risks throughout the product life cycle
- Must understand change management and scope control principles
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong organizational skills
- Must be able to work well both independently and in a team environment.
- Understanding of relevant technologies, including:
- Internet products and technologies
- Database-based software applications (Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, SQL)
- Visual Basic 6
- DHTML
- Windows Scripting technologies
Non-Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Line-of-business knowledge of Nonprofits is a plus.
- MBA is a plus
